Getting the Ethics of AI Right: A Discussion of Case Studies and Recommendations for a Way Forward

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT Virtual Event / Zoom

This event will explore the ethics of AI by delving into the intricate balance between technological advancement and ethical responsibility. Our guest contributor, Alberto Chierici, Ph.D. will guide us through an exploration of some of the existential questions and moral dilemmas posed by artificial intelligence and how they impact society, governance, and individual rights. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the ethical considerations necessary for the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies.

Some of the key questions that will be addressed during this event include:

  1. What is ethics? What is business ethics? And how does the emergence of technological innovations like artificial intelligence shape the relationship between the two?
  2. Why does the current wave of advancements in artificial intelligence demand more ethical approaches and considerations than other technological advancements in the past?
  3. What does it mean to develop and deploy artificial intelligence systems that are ethical by design?

Drawing from real-world scenarios, Alberto will discuss useful business cases in AI ethics while also pointing out practices that run the risk of exacerbating existing biases with devastating consequences for employment, social structures, and human identity. Whether you are a tech enthusiast or a passive observer of the current AI craze, join this event to learn about why it’s imperative to strive toward building a framework of transparency, fairness, and accountability around artificial intelligence on a global scale.

This event is open to everyone. For event inquiries or questions, reach out to us at d3ln@hbs.edu.
