Until recently, strategy seemed to have well-defined rules: strategy was about focus, and organizations could gain competitive advantage by either being cheaper or better. Since the advent of the Internet, however, things seem to have changed. In his book Driving Digital Strategy, Edward W. Carter Professor of Business Administration and Chair of the General Management Program at HBS Sunil Gupta highlights how the rules of strategy are shifting in the digital era.
