Good article. I’m wondering if Siemens is trying to use Additive Manufacturing as a tool to further penetrate into the manufacturing sector. By receiving data on manufacturing activities from thousands SMEs, Siemens not only enables their customer but also positions itself to be the operating system of future manufacturing.
This is a great essay that outlines how Open Innovation can tackle problems that is small individually, but massive collectively.
Like mentioned in the article, “Crowdsourced challenges can spur unprecedented innovation leaps at stalled industries”. More importantly, open innovation in this instance spurs additional discussion on the issue or causes of the issue, thus creating more awareness and better attracting resources.
I really enjoyed reading this excellent essay.
It clearly explains the current application of machine learning in the construction field and outlines the vast potential for additional applications. For a traditional sector that suffers from low productivity growth and frequent cost overrun, machine learning could provide a new hope for elevated services in the future.
This is a great essay on how eminent and initiate machine learning can be. The technology does not have to sit in a super lab in a college campus, it can be used in familiar ways to address even more familiar problems.
I’m wondering what will be Uber’s response to CityMapper, given that Uber already have the algorithms, data, and the experience. In any case, rejuvenating the public transportation system in a buzzing large metropolis will create meaningful benefit such as reducing time wasted in travel, reducing energy consumption and emission, and improving traffic congestion.
I wish CityMapper luck and look forward to more of these entrepreneurial problem solvers.
It is interesting to see that 3D printing is helping with increasing efficiency in iterating distribution systems. Often, 3D printing is thought about in a manufacturing context. Although the application outlined in the article is manufacturing, but its end application shows the immense potential of additive manufacturing and the agility of the technology.
