Great topic, in addition to the affordable housing market, it will be interesting to see if this has legs in the traditional market or in areas where getting traditional raw materials is hard. This has the potential to provide housing for millions of people who currently have to go without but as Jake mentioned above there could be powerful interests that don’t want this to come creating a tension.
We have the same issues in the Army. Although the Army is also trending in this direction, making changes to maintenance schedules requires an enormous muscle movement, and buy-in from industry, and several multi-star commands. It will be interesting to see which service moves fastest on this and how they are able to defeat the entrenched interests.
As another consumer who tracks my steps and activity regularly, I think this has great potential to improve people’s health. However, there are some regulatory issues with this, where does the FDA come in with regards to personalized medical recommendations that are made through AI and how does industry government and the public come together to solve this? This is a question is common with several other areas of AI and one that will permeate out society in the decades ahead.
Glad you mentioned the FAA, I think that a major road block to this will be acceptance of the FAA and political leaders to having UAVs or semi-autonomous air vehicles operating in the national airspace.
This is interesting. I wonder if the cost to have people in space could be a limiting factor to the ability to make items there. Will people with specific expertise be required and will it be worth keeping them on station?
