Visual Intelligence
The rise of “intelligent” ChatBots, capable of natural language processing, has launched AI into the public consciousness. But these chatbots are disembodied agents interacting through text and do not interact with the visual or physical world. Computer vision is the field of study which aims to endow computers and robots with the ability to understand images, video, and the visual world. I will give a brief introduction to the deep and historic links between Computer Vision and Machine Learning, and then discuss current challenges and opportunities for visual intelligence and how we are addressing many of these issues at Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence in Abu Dhabi.
