A well-written piece very much enjoyed reading it. Open innovation or crowd-sourcing, in my opinion, can be helpful in most of the time, but also dangerous I would argue. As it may take the company in a different direction that may end-up very costly. Also, one question I have, is how can a company attract people to participate and share their ideas? This is very important especially for the toy/game industry that is losing demand recently.
Interesting read. I wonder what will happen to jobs as a result of mass 3D printing in the shoe industry? would it reduce it significantly? what and how are companies such as Nike are tackling this issue? Another topic that comes to my mind now, is what is the potential of people designing their own shoes and printing them at home? would that be a thing? What if people just take a Nike shoe and copy it at home? What regulations should be in place to protect against such acts?
Very much loved this article. I’m intrigued by the topic of 3D printing, but never thought about the safety benefits that can come from it, very insightful! One area I would have loved to read more about is 3D printing impact on plastic demand globally (which entails a higher demand for petrochemicals). Are we going to see growth in petrochemicals as more manufacturers going to use 3D printing? and what about the transportation (for shipping) sector? Distributors, and storage houses? I think the industry overall is on the cliff of a radical change.
Very well written and a very relative topic that been the headline for the past year and the topic of most conversations I had recently. I see the reason for calling to have stronger regulations around the use of users’ data and how the potential of not allowing political ads on social media can be a good solution too. But what about people able to know for themselves? and putting more efforts to validate the ads they watch, see and read? I know how damaging these ads can be, but we must also trust people awareness and ability to make the right judgment of what they see and what makes them vote. Talking about such topic more will increase people ability to be more skeptic of what they see in such ads.
Interesting read, and a very enlighting topic. I have never considered the money leakage that can come from Ad fraud. On your question, I’m in favor of companies like P&G to develop their own in-house capabilities mainly because companies need to keep up with new trends in the industry (IT specifically) and I’m talking here in general, and not only to combat Ad fraud, but companies need to have the ability to cope with the new trends in the industry with advanced analytics, AI, and so on. On this particular topic, I see the benefit of cooperating with others in the industry to work jointly to come up with more efficient solutions. Something that’s done quite a lot in the Oil and Gas industry via knowledge sharing in conferences and technical papers – to name a few.
