Great paper, as you discuss and present a very relative and important topic which is broad reaching through the business and political arenas. Nike is one of the top well known global brands that is changing the way it operates, as it is a massive manufacturing company that makes products worn by many throughout the world. Their very business model contributes to climate change, and it is great to see Nike taking a stance – though hopefully the actions that Nike takes is more than just a marketing scheme to make it appear as if they are doing something. Additionally, it will be interesting to see how global sales and revenues are impacted by the actions Nike is taking, and what the response will be from the market. Making improvements to reduce emissions will cost capital, and may wind up having an impact on share price due to reduced net income.
Great paper, as you discuss and present a very relative and important topic which is broad reaching through the business and political arenas. Nike is one of the most well known global brands that is changing the way it operates due to changing isolationist views by parties both in and outside of the company. It will be interesting to see how global sales and revenues are impacted by the stance Nike is taking, and how it is re-positioning it’s supply chain management and structure as well as general feelings towards free trade. Additionally, I think the automation topic was initially separate and unique from the isolationist stance, but now that companies such as Nike are altering their business model in line with the isolationist view – they are concurrently taking advantage of this opportunity to implement improvements to the production process via automation.
Great paper, as you discuss and present a very relative and important topic which is broad reaching through the business and political arenas. GM is a global brand that is changing the way it operates due to nationalistic and isolationist views of many. It will be interesting to see how global sales and revenues are impacted by the stance GM is taking, and how it is re-positioning it’s supply chain management and structure in line with changes in the TPP as well as general feelings towards free trade. Additionally, I think the automation topic was initially separate and unique from the isolationist stance, but now that companies such as GM are altering their business model in line with the isolationist view – they are concurrently taking advantage of this opportunity to implement improvements to the production process via automation.
Great post and analysis about the impacts of digital innovations and trends that are having an impact on industries across the board! I think that all of the points you made only go to highlight how disruptive digital innovations such as blockchain can improve the marketplace and bring added value to society. Though, as you made clear, blockchain can only do so much as seen in the authentication and verification of the piece of art. It will be interesting if blockchain – a different industry – can innovate a means to lock a digital verification stored in a blockchain to a tangible item in a manner that cannot be exploited or altered.
You bring up some great points about a company who has been at the forefront of digitization from the beginning. I anticipate Intel will continue to be a company that the world will look to as an example of how to incorporate the “internet of things” along with other supply chain improvement strategies into their business model. Do you foresee Intel partnering with any other companies, or investing in other technologies in addition to blockchain?
