That’s such a great idea! Ages ago the Victoria and Albert Museum in London created an exhibition space for replicas of sculptures and buildings from all around the world, with the goal of opening art and architecture up to “commoners”. It is great to see that the Met is so open at using technology to make their exhibits come to life, giving visitors more information about what’s going on and what they’re seeing. Combining what they’re doing with the Macy Beacon sounds great as well. Hope to see those clunky audio guides gone soon!
Great post! In the millennial landscape, I feel that it’s only people who are really interested into photography who buy cameras. The semi-professional ones are pretty bulky pieces of kit that are sometimes a bit of a nuisance to carry around. While creating sleeker wifi connected cameras seems like a good idea, I think they are running in a loosing race by competing against the likes of Apple and Samsung because everyone takes their phones everywhere and carrying another piece of equipment is – most of the time – impractical (says someone who always has an extra bag to carry around for a DSLR). I totally agree, however, that there is more potential in accessories / maybe collaborations on the lenses side of things.
Great post and very interesting idea. I was wondering how they might pair up data from beacon technology with information they collect about us from the use of apps? There are certain things I always buy online so I don’t even need to be enticed to other parts of the store to discover those things. At the same time, I wonder if they can use the beacon data to maybe make navigation easier for people who might not enjoy shopping in store as much.
Great post! I can see your point about cannibalization of the market but at the same time, I think there is a huge potential with segments of the market for whom travelling to a big city for a show and staying in town for a night just to attend the show is simply too expensive.
Curious what you think about the drive to do the same with theatre, classical music and opera?
Great post. Do you think it would be feasible to install smarter home systems (this is a bit extreme: http://www.investors.com/news/real-estate/apple-teams-with-builders-to-get-devices-bundled-into-smart-homes/ for “affordable” homes but it does give a good flavor of what could be achieved with smarter home systems) and do you reckon such systems might make a difference in fighting climate change impacts?
Great post. Do you think partnerships across countries might be feasible and would help mitigate the problem? https://www.ft.com/content/eb5114d6-d846-11e4-ba53-00144feab7de seems to suggest that certain flower plantations work better in certain locations.
Great post. I guess the fact that the merger with Danone failed is a good thing for the environment (https://www.ft.com/content/9ab78f12-43db-11e6-9b66-0712b3873ae1).
Great article. I believe it is now mandatory for all new developments to be LEED or BREEAM (http://www.breeam.com/) compliant. Do you think this changes your assessment of AIG’s efforts to protect itself from the risks of climate change?
Great article. It’s great that they finally managed to finish the barriers after years of delays. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on allegations that the project will alter the biodiversity of the lagoon (https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2015/jun/16/inside-venice-bid-hold-back-tide-sea-level-rise).
