I am surprised that Youtube is still on the red. Although it is common for internet start-ups to be unprofitable in their early days, Youtube is way past this phase. I found it even more astonishing as I know several Youtubers (yes, this is a real thing, a new profession) that make a fat pay uploading videos as a full-time job. What are they hoping to achieve? More scale? Now I am puzzled…

Very interesting analysis. As the price of land rises in Brazil, agribusiness get more sophisticated and seek a higher return on the land. Feedlots are inspired on Brazilian integrated poultry production chain and can really increase land productivity. Sustainability and long-term effects of this “artificial” method for feeding cattle are the main concerns towards feedlots, but I feel there is no coming back.

Thoughtful choice for the TOM Challenge. I found both your analysis and the comments above extremely insightful. I can’t prevent myself from tracing a parallel with organized crime in Brazil and more broadly in Latin America (Medellin Cartel portrayed in Netflix’s original Narcos being a fine example). I am sure that local authorities would be more successful fighting organized crime if they had a deep understanding of how their business model is supported and reinforced by their operating model.

Excellent analysis on how NCAA business model is not fully supported by its operating model which leaves several important stakeholders worse-off. I hope NCAA is able to quickly adapt and transform operating model to make its business more sustainable. For the sake of March Madness!
