Thanks for the post Charles. Was quite familiar with AB InBev’s acquisition strategy since they have taken hostile approaches to buying companies. My former colleague at Citi who just graduated from HBS is doing AB InBev’s corporate leadership program fall and she’s already heavily involved in on-campus recruiting (Human Capital Strategy at its best). She was at the HBS Halloween Party after having done a company presentation earlier in the day.

Hi Kate, I’ve heard great things about Slack (mostly from publications) but I generally don’t know anyone on campus or at large corporations using the service. Is this being in a particular part of the US, or by a particular industry / company size? Since I’ve never used it, I’m trying to figure out what the adoption will be like going forward and whether larger, more established businesses will take this up in the next 2 to 5 years. Thoughts?

Quite interesting, especially since Tinder seems to be benefiting from a first-mover advantage. Given the attractive market segment of match-making, which of Tinder’s operating features do you think will allow it to maintain a competitive advantage as it faces new competitors. Do you think a lot of the characteristics you mentioned (i.e. open space, moveable chairs) are replicable by other start-ups? Also, do you think there is much room for innovation in this space?
