This type of mentality will reduce the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessdictionary.com\/definition\/efficiency.html\">efficiency<\/a> of the overall <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessdictionary.com\/definition\/operation.html\">operation<\/a>, reduce <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessdictionary.com\/definition\/morale.html\">morale<\/a>, and may <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessdictionary.com\/definition\/contribute.html\">contribute<\/a> to the demise of a productive <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessdictionary.com\/definition\/company-culture.html\">company culture<\/a>.\u201d \u00a0<em>Source- <\/em><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessdictionary.com\/definition\/silo-mentality.html\">http:\/\/www.businessdictionary.com\/definition\/silo-mentality.html<\/a><\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yes, we have that. \u00a0I am sad to say that we have silo mentality. Actually, silo mentality has existed for so long, I believe it is part of our corporate culture. Not a culture that you want to continue to foster, of course. \u00a0We have talked about this mindset for years, yet it still exists. It has outlasted initiatives to eradicate it. It has outlasted senior leadership. It has outlasted major enterprise change.\u00a0 Silo mentality has a strong hold on us\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>Leaders, management, individual employees are all in its sickening grip. What lives inside our walls that continues to allow this harmful bacteria to flourish?\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to be too dramatic, not everyone in our organization has the disease.\u00a0 There are enough folks that do have it, however, to make this a real concern for us.<\/p>\n<p>Meetings can be tense because of the silo mentality of some. Projects are more difficult than then need to be. Timelines are blown because needed information was not shared in a timely fashion. Needless competition is created between departments. \u00a0Workflows are negatively impacted.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from these adverse work\/task situations, it takes a toll on people. I believe that staff morale is bruised along the way. People take it personal that they are denied information or access. \u00a0Feelings are hurt.\u00a0 Destructive relationships are created.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, our organization continues to succeed even with this condition. Our successes could be greater and\/or a lot easier without it of course. \u00a0\u00a0Can better communication save us?
