{"id":348,"date":"2018-04-24T22:56:27","date_gmt":"2018-04-25T02:56:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digital.hbs.edu\/platform-mhcdsolutions\/submission\/how-do-you-maintain-culture-during-rapid-company-growth\/"},"modified":"2018-04-24T22:56:27","modified_gmt":"2018-04-25T02:56:27","slug":"how-do-you-maintain-culture-during-rapid-company-growth","status":"publish","type":"hck-submission","link":"https:\/\/d3.harvard.edu\/platform-mhcdsolutions\/submission\/how-do-you-maintain-culture-during-rapid-company-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"How do you maintain culture during rapid company growth?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>When our company started we had a handful of providers that were in &#8220;start up&#8221;\u00a0 mode.\u00a0 We had known and worked with each other for years in a different facility.\u00a0 We were used to scraping it together (covering shifts, etc) and doing what ever it took to provide excellent care for our patients.\u00a0 We often thought out-side the box, innovated on the spot and had each others&#8217; back for patient care concerns and follow up issues.\u00a0 We banded together to have a voice as a NP group and made great strides in our independent practice.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>As an NP, I am now their\u00a0National APP Leader and VP of Clinical Operations.\u00a0 I\u00a0feel a strong sense of responsibility to my team and our clinical practice.\u00a0 I make sure that the APPs have a voice and input into day to day operations.\u00a0 Together, we &#8220;own&#8221; the provider practice and have a very strong sense of culture in our original start up office.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The problem:\u00a0 Our practice has grown very rapidly.\u00a0 We are now in 7 markets\/6 states and plan to be in 2-3 more by EOY.\u00a0 Our provider workforce has grown to over 55 NPs\/PAs.\u00a0 In the past I would personally interview, hire and make sure that ALL of our providers understood our mission, core values and the culture that I have developed.\u00a0 However, I no longer have the bandwidth to speak to every APP hire.\u00a0 I do have a small team of APP Leaders that I am developing, but most providers have little leadership or business experience or training.\u00a0 I want our unique provider group to be\u00a0<em>one<\/em>, not &#8220;us&#8221; vs &#8220;them&#8221; as we expand across the nation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Question: How do we maintain the strong sense of culture across all markets as we continue to expand operations?\u00a0 How do we band together all of the providers and keep the sense of ownership of our unique practice?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Thank you!<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maintaining a unique culture across a growing organization<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10683,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","categories":[],"class_list":["post-348","hck-submission","type-hck-submission","status-publish","hentry"],"connected_submission_link":"https:\/\/d3.harvard.edu\/platform-mhcdsolutions\/conversation\/mchd-solutions\/","yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>How do you maintain culture during rapid company growth?
