It was recently deemed by Jensen Huang, CEO of AI chip giant NVIDIA, as likely one of the most important software products ever released. [1] Since late 2025, the open-source AI agent called OpenClaw has become the fastest-growing project in GitHub history, crossing 302,000 stars by early April. [2] It showed what a persistent AI assistant could do: remember preferences, schedule tasks, control your computer, and coordinate across email, calendar, and messaging. However, for most business leaders, its risks outweigh its benefits.

Why OpenClaw Is Not for the Typical Enterprise

OpenClaw was built by, and for, developers. It runs from the command line and assumes fluency with Python and Git. Within weeks of its release and wide scale adoption, SecurityScorecard found over 135,000 exposed instances of leaking API keys and OAuth credentials. [3] According to a February 2026 study from Koi Security, 12% of its skill marketplace was malicious. [4] In practice, deploying OpenClaw means handing a stranger the keys to your office.

Claude Cowork Dispatch: The OpenClaw Vision, Built for Business Leaders

OpenClaw proved to forward-looking leaders that autonomous AI was within reach, and it quickly inspired enterprise products. Anthropic’s Claude Cowork Dispatch, launched March 17, 2026, is the standout. A QR code is all it takes to link your phone to your laptop, turning it into a tool to manage an AI agent that already has access to your files, email, calendar, and Slack. You can point it toward a complex task before your morning coffee, and it will have made real progress by the time you sit down at your desk.

The use cases are powerful. Whether it’s a CEO reading a synthesized overnight briefing as her plane taxis to the gate, or a VP stepping into a board meeting with a fresh pitch deck built during her Uber ride, this is a way to work on the go like we’ve never seen. Last month, this column framed Cowork as a “Chief of Staff” at your desk; Dispatch now makes that Chief of Staff reachable from anywhere.

Beyond Product Specs: Why This Matters

The trend is bigger than any single product. Several major labs and application vendors shipped OpenClaw -inspired enterprise agents this quarter, including OpenAI, Perplexity, Notion, and others. Agentic AI has crossed from novelty to mainstream. KPMG projects $3 trillion in productivity gains annually. [5] The leaders who capture that value will be those who have personally delegated real work, not those who are still drafting strategy documents.

This Month’s Action Item for Leaders

A good first step would be to pilot Cowork Dispatch on one recurring workflow this month. Candidates for your consideration: a daily inbox triage that surfaces what needs your immediate decision or response, a weekly customer-feedback synthesis from Slack and support tickets, or a monthly board-prep digest from finance and sales. Once your phone is paired and your brief is set, Dispatch handles the rest without you in the loop. Prompting an AI to help you write or think is one kind of skill; delegating to it, and trusting it to work through a task on your behalf is another. For me, one successful handoff was enough to change how I thought about what AI can do.

NB: Dispatch is still in research preview. Grant access only to files and accounts you’re comfortable with Claude touching autonomously.

One Other Thing

One more signal is worth watching: Anthropic’s Claude Design, launched in April, brings the same delegation pattern to visual work: Claude Design is a tool that learns your company’s brand from your existing materials and then generates on-brand presentations, marketing collateral, landing pages and interactive prototypes from a single conversation. No traditional design skills are required. It was created for executives, product managers, and marketers. Claude Design removes the translation friction of explaining a vision to a designer. It’s worth experimenting with if you regularly need executive-grade visuals.

Next Month at a Glance

Coding is no longer just for software engineers. Increasingly all knowledge work is coding work. OpenAI positioned its response to Claude Cowork + Claude Code with its significantly updated “Codex (for almost everything.)” On April 16, 2026, OpenAI released a powerful update to Codex that makes it worth taking a closer look at. [6] It operates your computer alongside you, works across multiple files and terminals, includes a built-in browser, remembers your preferences, generates images, and handles repeatable, long-running work tasks.

Meet the Author

Mike Grandinetti is an Executive Fellow at Harvard Business School.
