Harvard and NASA are collaborating to host a webinar introduction to open innovation.

In its simplest format, open innovation encompasses ideas and problem-solving methodologies that explore beyond the traditional organizational boundaries.

LISH has worked with NASA’s Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation (CoECI), Harvard Medical School, and a variety of companies and government agencies since 2010 to complete over 800 innovation projects, including prized-based competitions. These competitions encompassed a wide range of domains across all industries. Some of our most successful examples include projects in space sciences where contestants were tasked with improving the algorithm used for positioning longerons on the ISS, AI-based cancer detection diagnostics to help doctors, and deep sea illegal fishing regulation to protect sea life.

This webinar will provide an overview of the basics and importance of open innovation and how new generative AI tools can help lower barriers to entry. Attendees will walk away with a better understanding about how to participate in the open innovation community and how to use it to its potential.

About Us

The Digital Data Design Institute at Harvard is the leading knowledge center on the benefits of digital technology in society and business. As global leaders in translational science, we aim to create a world where business and society can harness the benefits of AI and digital technologies in a regulated and controlled environment. We prioritize a human-centric model that ensures these technologies are moving the world in a positive direction.

Researchers at the Laboratory for Innovation Science look at the way incentives and governance work in innovation, explore novel approaches to problem-solving and investigate how knowledge is produced and disseminated.

Abstract: Online Survey
Description:
The purpose of this research study is to learn about who is and is not participating in open innovation competitions, and why.

This is a research study conducted by the Laboratory for Innovation Sciences at Harvard. As part of this study, you will be asked to complete a survey about your experience in open innovation. You will be asked questions about your background and your motivations to participate or not participate in open innovation competitions. Every effort will be made to keep your data confidential. There may be a risk of breach of confidentiality, but we plan to mitigate this risk with strict data storage standards with data only accessible to the research team.

25 people will receive a $5 Amazon gift card and $25 people will receive a $25 Amazon gift card. 25 others who complete the whole survey will receive stickers from NASA and the Laboratory for Innovation Science at Harvard Business School.

If you are eligible and agree to participate in this study, you will be invited to enter a raffle. To enter the raffle, you will need to provide your email. If you complete the screener, you can enter a raffle to win a $5 Amazon gift card. If you are eligible and complete the whole survey, you can enter a raffle where 1st place winners will receive a $25 Amazon gift card, and 2nd place winners will win NASA and Laboratory for Innovation Science stickers. Your odds of winning a $5 gift card, $25 gift card, or stickers are approximately 5%. The researchers will contact gift card winners via email and send the gift card via email. If you win stickers, the researchers will contact you via email to request your address for prize distribution. Your address will be destroyed after prizes are distributed.
